Generalised geological map. Licence is located within red circle.

Overall, the licence area is located in a zone covered with Karoo sediments, which is “bridging” the so-called eastern and northern

limbs of the Bushveld Complex. Active mining of chrome and platinum ores takes place within famous Merensky Reef and shallower

UG2 horizons ~ 30km to the East from Groothoek.

Currently mine owned by Lonmin Platinum is located immediately to the East from Groothoek (see satellite image) M.G.C. Wilson of

Council for Geoscience in his summarised mineral profile of the Limpopo Province highlights the area to the South of Mokopane

(i.e. where the Licence is located) as highly prospective for chrome and PGM.

Of special interest is a hand specimen of slightly weathered layered dunite-wehrlite (10x5x4cm) collected on surface at ~ 50 m from

gravel road representing southern border of Block A during site inspection (22nd August 2010).

Although it is not certain if it is of local origin or alien, there is a recently dug trench for laying a water pipe within 100 m from the

spot.
